ORLANDO, Fla. (April 24, 2017) – Accomplished player and New England teaching professional Skip Guss, one of Golf Digest’s “Best Teachers” in the state of Massachusetts, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday and Thursday, April 26-27.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday and 10 a.m.-noon ET on Thursday.
Guss, owner and founder of Skip Guss’ GolfRite Academy, a year-round learning facility located 30 miles west of Boston in Southborough, Mass., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Guss is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m very excited to be appearing on Morning Drive,” said Guss, the 2014 New England PGA Teacher of the Year. “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches and I look forward to sharing some of my best lessons and playing strategies with the viewers at home.”
Before turning to coaching, Guss played collegiate golf for two years at Arizona State University. He then turned professional and played the mini-tours for a few years before qualifying to play on the PGA Tour for one season (1977-’78), earning one top-25 finish. Among his 30 professional wins, his biggest was the 2005 Rhode Island Senior Open. That same year, he was a qualifying medalist for the 2005 U.S. Senior Open at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
During his career, Skip has had the privilege of being personally instructed by such playing and coaching legends of the game as Sam Snead, Jack Grout (Jack Nicklaus’ lifelong coach), Tom Creavy, Bob Toski and Peter Kostis. He has given more than 30,000 lessons with students ranging from beginners to former LPGA, PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions winners, and even a U.S. Amateur champion. Guss also served as the head coach of the Holy Cross women’s golf team for two seasons.
