Lauren Thompson, Matt Ginella and Bailey Mosier to broadcast live from Billy Casper golf courses in Jacksonville and Orlando, Fla., and Quantico, Va.
ORLANDO, Fla. (April 28, 2017) – On Monday, May 1, Morning Drive Co-hosts Lauren Thompson, Matt Ginella and Bailey Mosier will report live from Billy Casper Golf courses to celebrate the seventh annual “World’s Largest Golf Outing,” (WLGO) a simultaneous golf outing to be played at more than 140 courses across North America to benefit Fisher House Foundation and Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation.
Lauren Thompson will be on location at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla.; Matt Ginella will be at Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando, Fla.; and Bailey Mosier will report from Forest Greens Golf Course in Quantico, Va. Each host will provide live updates for Golf Channel’s daily news and golf lifestyle show, and will highlight WLGO participants, donations, representatives from Fisher House and Arnie’s Army, and event celebrations. Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of Billy Casper Golf, also will join the show to discuss the biggest one-day celebration of golf and charity.
Billy Casper Golf, which founded “World’s Largest Golf Outing” in 2011, has joined forces with Golf Channel and GolfNow to host the event at a record number of courses this year. The event is open to all golfers regardless of ability, and there is no USGA handicap required.
“Our dear friend Billy Casper left a remarkable legacy of helping others,” said Hill, speaking of the late golf legend who proudly served in the Navy and entertained American troops overseas as a golf professional. “Each WLGO participant’s love of golf and generosity honors Billy’s spirit. Giving back to the brave men and women who protect our daily freedoms meant so much to him.”
Other Golf Channel digital properties – including GolfChannel.com and GolfAdvisor.com – will join Morning Drive to support WLGO online and via social media at #WLGO17.
“We’re proud to help support this worthy endeavor,” said Adam Hertzog, Vice President, News and Studio Productions for Golf Channel. “Lauren, Matt and Bailey are looking forward to taking our viewers on location to showcase the positive impact WLGO has on our communities.”
Since its inception, WLGO has donated more than $3.5 million to military and family charities. More than 52,000 golfers have participated in 33 different states; and the event has welcomed more than 1,200 wounded service men and women to play. This year, a portion of player registration fees and 100 percent of additional donations from players and non-players will benefit Fisher House Foundation and Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation.
