PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – (May 4, 2017) – The Talamore Family of golf clubs hasn’t gotten any bigger … but it’s getting better.
After major renovations at Talamore Resort and the Mid South Club – the two Pinehurst, North Carolina properties – Applecross Country Club in Downingtown is the latest property to get a new and improved look. And it is displaying the new look proudly on the May episode of the award-winning Traveling Golfer television show.
Applecross is a private country club that was produced by Michael Nicklaus of the Nicklaus Design architectural firm. It opened in 2010 and has morphed into one of the premiere golf communities in the Greater Philadelphia area.
“We like to call it a campus,” says Applecross General Manager Gregg Russell. On that sprawling campus are two new clubhouses, a 10,000 square foot-fitness center, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts. There are more than six miles of walking trails that wind through the property and the surrounding development of 600 homes.
“A modern culture has been cultivated here at Applecross,” continues Russell. “The amenities have been matched to the lifestyle of the members and, of course, the main amenity is a championship golf course that can be played and enjoyed by all levels of golfers.”
Traveling Golfer host Tony Leodora had not been back to Applecross since shortly after it first opened in 2010. He was shocked to see the changes.
“I hardly recognized the property,” remarked Leodora. “The course has matured. There are two, new magnificent clubhouses. The fitness center is the finest of any club in the area. And the community has been sympathetically designed to blend in with the surrounding rolling hills of Suburban Philadelphia’s Chester County.”
The episode from Applecross CC – with glimpses of its sister properties at Talamore CC in Ambler, Pa. and the two Pinehurst courses at Talamore Resort and Mid South — began airing May 1 and runs throughout the month on the Traveling Golfer network of websites … including The Golf Director Network (see full list of sites on travelinggolfervideo.com). It also will air on Monday, May 8 as part of the Press Box television show in Myrtle Beach, 5 to 7 p.m. on HTC Ch. 4. The Traveling Golfer also airs as a scheduled weekly feature show on Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Comcast SportsNet airings are 10:30 a.m. Sundays and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays. The Comcast Network airs the show at 6 p.m. Mondays and Fridays.
As part of every Traveling Golfer show there is the additional feature, “Tech Talk”, hosted by Tour Edge Golf experts, such as President Dave Glod. With years of experience as a club maker, Glod presents an inside look at the research and development of high-quality golf equipment.
Responding to golfers’ never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer so he could take viewers on video trips to some of the most exciting golf locations. The show repeated for the second straight year as the No. 1 Golf Television Show in America in the prestigious International Network of Golf Awards, presented at the PGA Merchandise Show in January.
The Traveling Golfer is a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 16 years of experience in televised golf. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. The old shows are archived for continued viewing on home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
