ORLANDO, Fla. (May 15, 2017) – Long Island native and long-time teaching professional Peter Stern is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive Wednesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 18.
The popular daily morning show will air from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday, and 7:30-9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.
Stern, owner of the Peter Stern Golf Academy at Indian Head Golf Park in Kings Park, N.Y., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Stern is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to be on Morning Drive,” said Stern, rated a Top 5 Golf Instructor by New York Golfing Magazine. “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches and I look forward to sharing some of my best lessons and playing strategies with the viewers at home.”
Stern has been teaching golf for more than 20 years, working alongside some of the game’s best coaches, including noted short-game specialist Dave Pelz and World Golf Teachers Hall-of-Famer Jim Flick. He began his coaching career assisting at the Dave Pelz Scoring Game School in Boca Raton, Fla., where he attended college at Lynn University. After two years with Pelz, he taught instruction at the Nicklaus/Flick Golf School at the Golden Bear Golf Center in Cypress Creek, Fla., before returning home to Long Island in 2002 and opening up the Peter Stern Golf Academy.
A certified club fitter, Stern has appeared as a featured instructor on ESPN Radio and XM Radio and in Newsday and Long Island Golf News.
