Company will supply Drive2 QuieTech fleet golf cars, utility vehicles,
beverage units and multi-passenger golf cars for resort guest rental
Kennesaw, Ga. (May 25, 2017) – Yamaha Golf-Car Company has been selected by Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, Ga., to supply fleet golf cars, utility vehicles and beverage units for the resort’s two courses, plus multi-passenger golf cars for resort guest rental, according to Yamaha company president Tom McDonald.
The announcement comes fresh off the launch of Yamaha’s Drive2, the next generation of gas and electric golf fleet vehicles, and the company’s latest expression of refined, luxurious technology. Highlights of the new Drive2 lineup include a gas car that is nearly as quiet as an electric car, the first independent rear-suspension ever built for use in a golf car, new design lines on the body panels and a 34% larger dashboard.
“We’re very excited to partner with Callaway Gardens, a national-class resort whose admirable mission is to provide a reserve for personal enrichment through recreation, education and the embrace of natural wonders,” said McDonald.
For more than 65 years, Callaway Gardens has provided “a place of relaxation, inspiration and a better understanding of the living world” for millions of visitors. Owned and operated by the non-profit Ida Cason Callaway Foundation, Callaway Gardens includes a garden and resort on 2,500 acres between Atlanta and Columbus, Ga. Resort highlights include a butterfly conservatory, discovery center, waterside chapel, inland beach, nature trails, and special events throughout the year. In addition, Callaway Gardens offers a spa, meeting space, restaurants, shops, tennis, water sports, fishing and more.
Callaway Gardens Resort features 36 holes of golf including the 18-hole Mountain View course, home to the PGA TOUR’s Buick Challenge for 12 years, and the 26-acre Twin Oaks Golf Practice Facility.
“Golf is one of Callaway Gardens’ most important outdoor resort assets and as of late, we are endeavoring to improve the total golf experience at Callaway. Our new partnership with Yamaha does just that by enhancing the golfer experience with superior product design and a fresh new look,” states Callaway Gardens President and CEO, Bill Doyle. “The business-to-business partnership is also a proud moment for our region. With Yamaha’s world-class manufacturing facilities in nearby Newnan, it just feels right doing business with a neighbor.”
“Equally as exciting is expansion of four- and six-passenger golf car rentals, now up to 45 in the fleet, for our Gardens guests to reserve. I have always felt that, besides a bicycle, a golf car is a great way for the family to experience the outdoor beauty of Callaway Gardens. Yamaha’s new Drive2 QuieTech EFI gas engines are extremely quiet allowing the sounds of nature to be the only thing you hear while riding through our property. Guests will find the new fleet available for rental this summer at the Discovery Center, centrally located in Callaway Gardens,” added Doyle.
As part of the Callaway Gardens partnership Yamaha will become a Gold Sponsor of the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation Charity Golf Tournament. It will also be the Official Golf Car of the resort’s spectacular holiday light and sound show, Fantasy in Lights, and a Promotional Partner in the Masters Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament.
In addition to Callaway Gardens Resort, Yamaha has a presence at such other national-class resort destinations as the Reunion Resort, Mission Inn, PGA West and 24 courses at 10 locations on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
