As best-selling authors, pair also will discuss newest book
being released this week
ORLANDO, Fla. (June 5, 2017) – World-renowned performance coaches Lynn Marriott and Pia Nilsson, the No. 1 and 2 ranked female coaches on Golf Digest’s list of the “50 Best Teachers in America”, are scheduled to appear as guest instructors on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday, June 7 and Thursday, June 8.
The popular daily morning show will air from 7-9 a.m. ET both days.
Marriott and Nilsson, co-creators of VISION54-a unique coaching program that integrates both the technical and human skills of the game-are two of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Marriott and Nilsson are making their second appearance on Morning Drive.
The two visionaries are also best-selling authors, and will be promoting their newest book, Be a Player, which is available in bookstores June 6. Be a Player is the fourth book from Marriott and Nilsson-following Every Shot Must Have a Purpose, The Game Before The Game and Play Your Best Golf Now-and focuses on the “human skills” necessary to play your best golf ON the course.
“Most golfers go to the range and work painstakingly on their swings, not realizing that it’s often their performance state on the course that needs work, not their technique,” said Marriott and Nilsson. “Simple things such as awareness of your balance, tension, and tempo, as well as the ability to control mental, emotional, and social variables you encounter while playing can quickly take your game to a new performance level.”
Marriott is the 1992 LPGA Teacher of the Year and 2010 Southwest PGA Teacher of the Year, and has been a regular on Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers list since its inception in 1996. Nilsson is a former LPGA Tour player and head coach of the Swedish National Golf Teams, and also led the 1998 European Solheim Cup team.
The two have coached players to more than 100 professional wins on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Ladies European Tour; including eight major LPGA Tour winners. Notable past and present students include LPGA Hall of Famer Annika Sorentstam, 2016 Rolex Player of the Year and reigning RICOH Women’s British Open champion Ariya Jutanugarn, reigning U.S. Women’s Open champ Brittany Lang, Suzann Pettersen, and PGA Tour winners Kevin Streelman and Russell Knox. Sorenstam and Knox are part of an elite group of 21 players to break 6o in a major golf tour event; Sorenstam is the only woman to shoot 59.
