The PGA of Canada announced today a new national partnership with Earth Networks, a leading global provider of weather intelligence and advanced technology to help golf courses automate decisions regarding player, staff, and visitor safety.
Earth Networks operates the world’s most comprehensive weather observation and lightning detection networks, with more than 10,000 neighborhood-level weather stations and over 1,500 lightning sensors installed around the world, including several world-renowned golf clubs and resorts. The partnership will provide the PGA of Canada with real-time location based severe weather monitoring and lightning alerting capabilities.
“This is a very important partnership for the PGA of Canada, both for our PGA National Championships and for what we stand for as an Association,” said Steve Wood, President of the PGA of Canada. “The safety of our PGA Professionals, staff, and volunteers is paramount and we look forward to helping protect these individuals with world-class technology from Earth Networks.”
Earth Networks already partners with 13 PGA Sections throughout the U.S. to provide golf courses with location-based severe weather visualization and alerting for onsite events.
