POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – GelTees, the 100 percent biodegradable golf tee, is on a mission to create a “greener way to golf.” The environmentally friendly golf tee company unveiled its new packaging at the 27th International Network of Golf Spring Conference, May 21-25, at the World Golf Village/World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Fla.
The four-day golf conference was attended by a cross-section of the golf industry and featured educational workshops, a demo day, one-to-one appointment show and guest speakers including renowned golf instructor Dave Pelz and CEO of the World Golf Foundation, Steve Mona.
Gel Tees are made of gelatin byproducts and completely biodegrade within five days depending on the environmental conditions. The new packaging contains 20 tees – enough for one complete round of golf. GelTees shatter into pieces and are designed for one time use.
With more than 2.8 billion wooden tees made annually in the USA alone, GelTees is on a mission to lower the environmental impact of the game. While products made from bamboo, untreated wood, cornstarch and sawdust can claim biodegradability adhering to these standards, they are not truly 100 percent biodegradable like GelTees.
“As a golf course designer and owner, GelTees make sense,” said Ron Garl, ING Conference attendee, President of Ron Garl Design, and architect of more than 250 golf designs worldwide. “Successful courses in the future must be environmentally sensitive in all aspects of the game – both design wise and operationally.”
GelTees can prevent the destruction of 70,000 trees per year and keep more than 1,600 tons of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. For course owners and superintendents, GelTees will keep tee boxes cleaner and lower maintenance costs.
Featured ING speaker Steve Mona, CEO of the WGF, also serves as administrator of WE ARE GOLF, a coalition of golf’s leading organizations that hosted its 10th Annual National Golf Day, April 26, in Washington, D.C. The pinnacle event of the year brings together more than 100 industry leaders to communicate among several initiatives, the environmental value and sustainability of the game to Congressional leaders.
“GelTees mission is not only to lower the environmental impact of the game, but to help fund organizations, like WE ARE GOLF, that improve lives through the game of golf,” said Tiger Summers, CEO of GelTees. “We’re focused on changing commodity into community; for the sustainability of the game.”
GelTees are available at leading retailers Walmart, Amazon, and Jet.com. Tees can be purchased in bulk quantities and customized with printed text, logos, and a variety of colors. For more information contact Tiger Summers at 844.GELTEES (844.435.8337) or visit www.GelTees.com.
