NBC to air live, weekend coverage from Olympia Fields Country Club; Golf Channel’s news programs – Golf Central and Morning Drive – to provide comprehensive wraparound coverage on-site from Olympia Fields; KPMG ambassador Phil Mickelson to join School of Golf Tuesday at Olympia Fields to talk wedge play; Condoleezza Rice and Olympians Michelle Kwan, Angela Ruggiero and Lindsey Vonn to headline KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit Wednesday, June 28
ORLANDO, Fla., June 22, 2017 – With the LPGA Tour’s second major championship of 2017 scheduled to feature one of the strongest fields of the year, Golf Channel and NBC combined will dedicate more than 25 hours of comprehensive on-site news and tournament coverage of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, June 29-July 2. Taking place at historic Olympia Fields Country Club near Chicago, the strong field will be headlined by World No. 1 Ariya Jutanugarn, No. 2 Lydia Ko, ANA Inspiration champion and No. 3 So Yeon Ryu, No. 4 Lexi Thompson, defending champion Brooke Henderson and a resurging Michelle Wie.
BROADCAST TEAM: Live tournament coverage of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship on Golf Channel and NBC will be anchored by Dan Hicks, joined by major champion Karen Stupples and Gary Koch in the broadcast booth. Tom Abbott will report from an on-course tower, with Kay Cockerill, Jerry Foltz and Mark Rolfing walking the course. Steve Sands will conduct player interviews.
COMPREHENSIVE ON-SITE NEWS COVERAGE: Golf Channel’s signature news programs, Golf Central and Morning Drive, will provide comprehensive, wraparound news coverage throughout the week, produced on-location at Olympia Fields Country Club. In addition to daily shows, Golf Central will present special player news conference shows Tuesday and Wednesday, June 27 and 28, at 5 p.m. ET.
Ryan Burr will anchor Golf Central’s live coverage from Olympia Fields Country Club alongside analysts Amanda Blumenherst and Arron Oberholser, with Lisa Cornwell reporting and conducting player interviews. Chantel McCabe and Solheim Cup veteran Nicole Castrale will set the stage each day on Morning Drive on-site from Olympia Fields with interviews and analysis.
SCHOOL OF GOLF ON-SITE AT OLYMPIA FIELDS WITH PHIL MICKELSON: Five-time major champion and KPMG ambassador Phil Mickelson will make a special appearance at Olympia Fields early in the week, which will include joining School of Golf host Martin Hall on-site to discuss wedge play in this short-game special, airing Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. LPGA Tour professionals Lindy Duncan and Lizette Salas and LPGA teaching professional Jessica Carafiello also are scheduled to join the show.
KPMG WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT: Golf Central also will offer news coverage of the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit, which will be hosted on-site Wednesday, June 28, featuring an assembly of accomplished leaders in sports, business, politics and media to inspire the next generation of women leaders. 66th Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Olympians Michelle Kwan, Angela Ruggiero and Lindsey Vonn will headline the gathering. The summit will be streamed live on Wednesday on Golf Channel Digital. In addition, portions of the summit also will be streamed via Golf Channel’s Facebook Live.
DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA COVERAGE: Golf Channel Digital will feature expanded editorial content during KPMG Women’s PGA Championship week, with GolfChannel.com senior writer Randall Mell reporting on-site from Olympia Fields Country Club with columns and daily blogs. Golf Channel social media host Alexandra O’Laughlin will contribute to Golf Channel’s social media platforms with exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
For the first time at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, both Golf Channel and NBC will integrate social media throughout the telecasts, incorporating social media posts from players and fans using the hashtag #KPMGWomensPGA.
