LAKE MARY, FL – The Foley Performance Academy at EaglesDream is offering summer camps that will allow juniors to experience the lifestyle of a full-time academy student.
The weeklong camps, which will take place at the academy’s home at Timacuan Golf & Country Club in Lake Mary, provide an interactive learning experience. World-renowned golf instructor Sean Foley will be on hand during portions of the camps to provide instruction and education.
The camps are tailored to junior golfers between the sixth and 12th grades. They will feature a combination of golf training and academic studies. The combination will allow students to maximize their time to develop as student athletes.
The two remaining available camps are July 10-16 and July 31-Aug. 6. For FSGA and AJGA players, the regular cost of $1,300 per week is reduced to $995.
To register or to schedule an on-site tour, call David DeAssis at 407-321-0010, ext. 260.
While Foley is well known for his work with professional golfers such as Justin Rose and Tiger Woods, this is the first golf school to carry his name. Foley is a Canadian-born instructor who is one of Golf Digest’s 50 Best Teachers in America.
EaglesDream Golf Academy offers a full-time residential program that provides training to all levels of golfers. The main focus is providing junior golfers a unique opportunity to develop big match temperament through elite golf training with world-class academics.
EaglesDream has a proven track record in preparing junior golfers for success in golf, college, business, and life. Foley’s philosophy fits perfectly with the environment already created at EaglesDream.
“They will learn skills that will make them better golfers, but our focus goes beyond that,” said Foley. “I enjoy playing a role in developing what kind of people they will become. Honesty, integrity and character; if they learn those qualities from their golf coach, that’s pretty cool.”
The foundation at EaglesDream is indeed solid. Academy students have accounted for approximately 40 victories on various junior tours.
Sierra Brooks, who currently plays for Wake Forest University, is a former EaglesDream student. She finished second in the 2015 U.S. Women’s Amateur and was a member of the victorious 2014 Junior Ryder Cup and 2015 Junior Solheim Cup teams.
“I always felt so productive at EaglesDream Golf Academy and was provided the best support and environment while pursuing my dreams to compete at the next level,” said Brooks. “(Owners) Claire and Jack Zhang are always looking for new and fresh ways of bringing the highest level of golf instruction to the academy.”
Timacuan Golf & Country Club, a semi-private facility opened in 1988, is a favorite choice for tournament directors nationally and locally. Timacuan has received rave reviews from the many PGA and LPGA Tour players who have competed in the $10,000 Timacuan Scramble during PGA Merchandise Show week each January.
“I really enjoyed the golf course,” said Graeme McDowell, the Irishman who won the U.S. Open in 2010. “It is a great layout with a links-like feel to it. It can be testy in places if you get off the beaten path, but it is a very fair course. And it is in great condition.”
