Dublin, OH (July 11, 2017) – A few weeks out from the completion of the U.S. Open at Erin Hills, architects Dana Fry and Jason Straka of Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design are still savoring the exhilarating experience. In reflection, they extend their sincerest thanks to the many individuals who made the event such a success.
Offering highest praise and appreciation to USGA President Diana Murphy, USGA Executive Director Mike Davis, and the entire USGA staff, Fry/Straka also highlight the amazing impact and contributions made by owner Andy Ziegler of Erin Hills, the 2017 U.S. Open Tournament Chairman Jim Reinhart, the Erin Hills 2017 U.S. Open Committee members, and the entire staff at Erin Hills for putting on a high caliber tournament that was so well received.
“Without the hard work of all these people there is no way the tournament could have been played,” stated Dana Fry, who co-designed the Erin Hills course with Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Mr. Ron Whitten. “The course received such high praise from every player and TV commentator, which was due to the extreme hard work of golf course superintendent Zach Reineking, his assistants Alex Beson-Crone and Adam Ayers, and the entire Erin Hills staff.”
Jason Straka added, “Delivering perfect greens and exceptional course conditioning takes a tremendous amount of time and diligence. Zach and his team really came through and their work is truly appreciated.”
The area volunteers and superintendents who came in from other courses provided the additional manpower that led to the overall success of the tournament, thus Fry/Straka also extends their gratitude for the personal commitment and effort made by each individual.
