(RESTON, VA) – Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – the highly respected and innovative manager of golf courses, country clubs and resorts – will operate Brentwood Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla.
BCG was selected as a strategic management partner to improve the systems, conditions and financial performance of Brentwood Golf Course. The municipal facility was previously leased by The First Tee of North Florida, which continues to use the course as the main location for programming in Duval County.
“This partnership allows us to focus on our mission and provide character education to the children of the community while exposing them to the game of golf. In addition, Brentwood will still be home to many juniors throughout the community.” said Jeff Willoughby, Executive Director of The First Tee of North Florida. “We look forward to working with Billy Casper Golf as their expertise in golf course conditioning and operations will improve the overall guest experience at Brentwood Golf Course.”
BCG will guide golf course maintenance, marketing, sales, staffing and training and more for the nine-hole layout. Operations will be locally-managed by a professional golf and agronomic team, supported by both a regional and national team that provides expert guidance and direction in all facets of the business. Other BCG-managed facilities in the area include Bent Creek Golf Course and St. Johns Golf & Country Club.
“With a unique layout that is an important offering in the community, Brentwood is poised for growth,” says Dan Zimmer, Regional Director of Operations for Billy Casper Golf. “The golfers who play the course will realize the Billy Casper Golf difference in the short and long term.”
In addition to nine player-friendly holes, Brentwood also boasts a state-of-the-art practice facility, which spans 14 acres and is modeled after TPC Sawgrass. The practice facility features an all-grass hitting area, chipping green, putting green and sand bunker.
About Brentwood Golf Course
Brentwood Golf Course is the premier nine-hole layout in golf-rich North Florida. The original Brentwood Golf Course was opened by the City of Jacksonville in 1923 and designed by famed Scottish golf architect Donald Ross. The track hosted the PGA Tour’s Jacksonville Open in 1945 and 1946, both won by Sam Snead. Closed in the late 1970s, the property was sold to the Duval County School Board for construction of the A. Philip Randolph Academy of Technology. The remaining property reopened in 2000 as a nine-hole course with driving range under the direction of The First Tee of Jacksonville.
Brentwood’s state-of-the-art practice facility includes a 14-acre practice range, all-grass hitting area, chipping green, putting green and sand bunker. The clubhouse serves as a gathering place for visitors and locals alike. Its welcoming space includes a Pro Shop, refreshment center, golf library and social area complete with comfortable seating and wide-screen TVs.
