BOURBON, MO – Imperial Headwear, the #1 headwear brand for Private and Resort golf facilities as reported by the Association of Golf Merchandisers (AGM) in the 2017 Member Survey, has been chosen as the Official Headwear of the prestigious Solheim Cup that will take place from August 18-20, 2017 at Des Moines Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa.
“Imperial is honored to be the Official Headwear of this renowned event,” says Darren Schubert, events & key account manager at Imperial Headwear. “We are excited to outfit Team USA in custom designed headwear during competition.”
This biennial, trans-Atlantic team match-play competition pits the best U.S.-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour against the best European members from the Ladies European Tour (LET).
“Imperial Headwear has been a wonderful, long-time partner of the LPGA,” says 2017 Solheim Cup tournament director Chris Garrett. “We are thrilled that the U.S. team will be wearing Imperial as they look to retain the Cup in Iowa next month.”
Team USA will try to retain the trophy in front of their home fans after staging the biggest come-from-behind victory in the event’s history to beat Europe 14.5-13.5 at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany in 2015. The U.S. have won nine of the 14 previous editions of The Solheim Cup, including four of the last six.
Imperial is also one of the lead vendors for headwear and T-shirts in the retail operation at the 2017 Solheim Cup, as well as an authorized seller of LPGA and official logo Solheim Cup headwear through its website ImperialSports.com.

This biennial, trans-Atlantic team match-play competition features the best U.S.-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the best European members from the Ladies European Tour (LET). The Solheim Cup is named in honor of Karsten Solheim, the founder of Karsten Manufacturing Corporation, which makes PING golf equipment. In 1990, the Solheim family, in conjunction with the LPGA and the LET, developed the concept and became the title sponsor for The Solheim Cup, professional golf’s international match-play competition for women. Held every two years, the event has grown into the most prestigious international women’s professional golf team event. The Solheim Cup is the one of the most highly coveted trophies in women’s professional golf; some of the most memorable moments in women’s golf have happened during Solheim Cups, and berths on the U.S. and European teams are highly sought after by players from both organizations.
