Additional fan activity on the course with the Omega Box Challenge;
Prizes to be distributed for participants
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – August 3, 2017 – OMEGA, Official Timekeeper of the PGA of America and Patron Partner, will provide fans with several unique opportunities at this year’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club – an interactive photo display with OMEGA Ambassadors Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy, an opportunity for luxury shopping in The Championship Shops and the OMEGA Box Challenge for prizes.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOPS
As fans enter The Championship Shops they will see two walls with life-size, digital images of OMEGA ambassadors Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy. The “selfie walls” will allow fans to take selfies next to virtual likenesses of McIlroy and Garcia in a luxury feel that coincides with OMEGA’s one-of-a-kind brand. Fans who take the photos will be encouraged to post on social media with the following hashtags #OMEGAGolf and #OMEGAmychoice.
Inside, fans can view and purchase items at the OMEGA Shop-in-Shop, which will feature the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 2017 Golf Collection, leathergoods and accessories with the PGA Championship logo.
OMEGA BOX CHALLENGE
In a tent on the course, golf fans will have the chance to participate in the OMEGA Box Challenge. The OMEGA Box Challenge was created by Rory McIlroy in January 2017 during an OMEGA photo shoot. He then challenged Garcia to try it. To see each ambassador attempt the challenge visit: Rory McIlroy’s OMEGA Box Challenge and Sergio Garcia’s attempt. Fans can chip a golf ball into an OMEGA watch box for OMEGA-branded prizes. Those who participate are encouraged to take video of their attempts and post on social media using #OMEGABoxChallenge.
ABOUT THE OMEGA SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA 2017 “GOLF” COLLECTION
The global game has served as inspiration for many of OMEGA’s finest timepieces, including this year’s Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf” collection. They feature horizontal teak pattern dials and NATO straps to keep the watch firmly on the wrist through the golf swings. There are two eye-catching dial/strap combinations to choose from: a sunbrushed black dial matched with green and black striped NATO strap; and a silvery dial matched with black and orange striped NATO strap. Rory McIlory wears the orange NATO strap, while Sergio Garcia the green NATO strap.
Both have symmetrical cases crafted from stainless steel and a waveedged design on the caseback. Other common features include a date window at 6 o’clock, and hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova. On each watch, the 15, 30, 45 and 60 on the minute track matches the colour of the strap attached, as does the seconds hand and Seamaster logo. Precision is a given, even on those days when your golf swing is a little off. Powered by the OMEGA Master Chronometer calibre 8900, both watches are certified at the industry’s highest level by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
