Play celebrated Pete Dye-designs Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore
(LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic) – Casa de Campo Resort & Villas – home to the Caribbean’s premier, luxury golf experiences, including the iconic Teeth of the Dog course – will host its 10th-annual Fall Pro-Am, Oct. 18 – 22.
With teams comprised of three amateurs and one professional, the 54-hole tournament features two rounds on the celebrated Pete Dye-designed Teeth of the Dog, and one round on Dye’s most recent masterpiece at Casa de Campo, Dye Fore.
For the event, the resort is offering a four-night “Amateur Package” starting at $2,625 (per player, based on double occupancy). Professionals who bring three amateurs receive an all-inclusive double occupancy package and opportunity to compete for the guaranteed pro purse.
The package features four nights’ accommodations in a well-appointed Pete Dye Golf Lodge room; four-passenger golf cart (per room); daily breakfast, lunch and dinner; welcome dinner and awards banquet; practice round on day of arrival and unlimited golf daily after tournament play; cart fees, range balls, club storage and care.
Also included are unlimited drinks in resort restaurants, bars and lounges, and from the Oasis golf course cart (bottles, mini-bar, premium bottled water, specialty cognacs and premium brand liqueurs are not included); free admission to Genesis night club; complimentary transfer from La Romana, Santo Domingo or Punta Cana Airports; all golf staff gratuities, resort taxes and service charges. “Our Fall Pro-Am is ideal for a tropical getaway to the Dominican Republic with the opportunity to play two of Pete Dye’s best-known courses,” says Andres Pichardo Rosenberg, President of Casa de Campo. “Come enjoy our world-class accommodations and amenities and discover first-hand why Casa de Campo is the pinnacle of Caribbean golf destinations.”
Since opening in 1974, Teeth of the Dog is widely recognized as the No. 1 course in the Caribbean. Dye’s design hallmarks are all present: railroad ties, vast waste areas, peninsula greens and tees, hand-sculpted putting surfaces and a unique assortment of pot bunkers. Oceanfront holes are astoundingly beautiful, causing Dye to famously quip: “I created 11 holes and God created seven.”
Twenty-seven-hole Dye Fore joined Teeth of the Dog in 2002. Its three nines – Chavon, Marina and Lakes – are distinct. Chavon features seven holes running atop cliffs dropping 300 feet, Marina meanders down to a harbor ringed by restaurants and shops, and Lakes is artfully crafted across tumultuous terrain. Golf course architecture aficionados call Dye Fore “the most underrated course in the Caribbean.”
Located in the interior of the property is the resort’s third Dye layout, The Links. The moderately hilly track with tall Bahia grass framing bunkers and undulating greens presents spectacular Caribbean views. Slightly over 7,000 yards from the back tees and playing to a slope of 126, it is considered one of the most-forgiving courses Dye has designed.
