The Shaft Simulation System (S3), which was developed in 2013, is a fully-automated, all-in-one shaft profiling machine. In roughly two and half minutes, the S3 analyzes and provides specifications on Straightness, Consistency Profile, EI Profile, CPM Analysis and Torque. While some of the aforementioned specs can be obtained from shaft manufacturers, a lack of industry standards prevents that data being used for accurate apples-to-apples comparisons. S3 Technologies solves this challenge by testing all products in-house using the S3. This gives S3 Technologies a unique and in-depth understanding of the quality and performance of industry shafts.
The S3 Shaft Explorer Software (found at www.S3Fitting.com) is a two-fold tool. Firstly, it lets users explore our vast database in order to learn anything they would want to know about shafts. From mass and balance points to launch and EI profiles, the S3 Shaft Explorer allows users to not only view certain shafts but also to filter and sort the possible shafts by any metric of their choice. As an additional filtering tool, users may define a shaft that they want to compare to and then filter down only shafts that are similar to the first. The second major function of the S3 Shaft Explorer is the fitting functionality, which allows the user to enter their swing characteristics and will then filter in only those shafts that would be appropriate for that player. For those interested in more information, tools exist on the home page of the software. There is a free fitting tool that lets a user enter their swing speed and current shaft which will then give them an estimate of how close the shaft is for the user assuming an average swing tempo. Additionally, tutorial videos can be found for the software which showcases all available features of the software.
