(PEBBLE BEACH, CA) – Youth on Course – the non-profit providing young people with subsidized golf rounds, college scholarships, caddie programs and paid internships – partners with the Miami Valley Golf Association (MVGA) to bring rounds for “$5 or less” to junior golfers in the Buckeye State.
Born in Northern California, Youth on Course subsidizes greens fees to remove cost as a barrier to entry for potential lifetime golfers. Currently operations are widespread throughout the west coast and Midwest. Nearly 28,000 kids ages 6-18 are active members of Youth on Course and can play at over 600 of partner courses each year.
“Partnering with Youth on Course creates an ease of access for Ohio’s youth to experience the game of golf and become part of the MVGA community,” says MVGA Executive Director Steve Jurick. “Not only will more juniors be exposed to the game but now the whole family has added reason to play more.”
Funds raised by the Miami Valley Golf Association will go toward round subsidies as facilities across the state begin to adopt the program.
Youth on Course has surpassed 550,000 subsidized rounds to date and exceeded $1,200,000 in awarded college scholarships to deserving members. Alumni of the organization’s internship and caddie programs have also gone on to be collegiate golfers and productive members of the industry.
“Offering ‘$5 or less’ rounds to Miami Valley juniors is a great step toward our goal of delivering affordable golf in all 50 states by 2020,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “We are excited to work in tandem with the MVGA to create lifelong golfers in the area.”
Support for Youth on Course drives the organization’s growth across America. This year the program has been recognized by The Golf Channel and Golf Digest as an essential bridge between youth instruction and consistent play throughout adulthood. NBA MVP Steph Curry is a vocal ambassador of the program.
