ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 22, 2017) – Acclaimed San Diego-area coach Devan Bonebrake, one of Golf Digest’s “Best Young Teachers in America” (Top Teachers Under 40) for 2016-’17, is scheduled to appear today as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive, and will make a second appearance on Thursday, Aug. 24.
The popular daily morning show will air today from 7-9 a.m. ET, and 7:30-9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.
Bonebrake, who owns and operates the Southern California Golf Academy in the northern San Diego suburb of Carlsbad, is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Bonebrake is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to be on Morning Drive,” said Bonebrake, a former teaching assistant and master instructor for the Jim McLean Golf School in Miami and Dallas/Ft. Worth. “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches and I look forward to sharing some of my favorite tips and playing lessons with the viewers at home.”
As an assistant under McLean – a member of the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame – Bonebrake worked with such notable PGA and LPGA Tour players as Greg Norman, Keegan Bradley, Eric Compton, Vaughn Taylor and recent Solheim Cup hero Lexi Thompson. Bonebrake has also spent significant time with such other notable instructors as Jim Hardy, Hank Haney, Mike Bender, Chuck Cook and the late Jim Flick. He is certified as a Hank Haney Associate Instructor and Jim Hardy Plane Truth Instructor.
Born and raised in Portland, Ore., Bonebrake played collegiate golf at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Calif., and San Diego State University, where he received a B.S. in Psychology.
