Volvik staff player Bubba Watson earned a Top 10 finish in the first round of the PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoffs. His 4th Top 10 and 6th Top 25 finish of the season came playing exclusively a Green Volvik golf ball this week.
Watson ranked 3rd in driving accuracy this week with his Green S4 golf ball with 78% of all drives finding the fairway. He ranked #1 in accuracy for any player averaging over 300 yards in driving distance.
The S4 is known for providing less dispersion due to the low driver spin and reduced side spin it produces for faster swing speeds like Watson.
Watson extended his FedExCup hopes at The Northern Trust Open and played his way into the second event of the FedExCup Playoffs, the Dell Technologies Championship. Watson began the week ranked 113th in the standings, but catapulted himself all the way to 72nd with the Top 10 finish at Glen Oaks Club.
In his 20th event playing Volvik golf ball, Watson shot a 4-under-par 276 (67-68-71-70) for the event.
Watson’s first round featured a bogey-free 67. He gained 1.013 strokes off-the-tee as he hit 11 of 14 fairways. He was 8 for 8 in scrambling Thursday, converting five putts from the 6-to-9 foot range in addition to a 15-foot birdie at the 11th.
Watson rallied for a 2-under-par 68 in the second round to get to 5-under. He made back-to-back birdies at Holes 3 and 4 from 26-feet and 15-feet, respectively. He then sank a 17-foot putt for birdie on Hole 9. He hit 13 of 14 fairways and hit 14 greens in regulation, gaining 1.727 strokes off-the-tee in round 2.
Watson posted just one bogey thru 36 holes, ranking him No. 1 in the field. In the final round, he hit 10 of 14 fairways and posted five birdies to secure the Top 10 finish on Sunday.

Watson is now within striking distance of the top 70 in the FedExCup standings and a spot in the third event of the FedExCup Playoffs, the BMW Championship. The Top 10 this week is his eighth Top 10 finish in 41 career Playoffs events.
At the Dell Technologies Championship next week, the top 100 are cut to 70. And at the following event, the BMW Championship, the final 70 get cut to 30 and go onto play the Tour Championship as well. Watson has now made six cuts in his last seven events.
