Lutz, FL – TPC Tampa Bay, a Heritage Golf Group property, is proud to announce today that two Junior Golfers, Graden Lomax and David Cochran, competed in the World Championships 2017.
The 2017 World Championship supported by the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation was held on Tuesday August 3rd – 5th at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. Each year since 2005, Pinehurst plays host to hundreds of junior golfers from across the globe. This year there were over 1,550 players, more than 50 countries represented at the pinnacle event for competitive golfers ages 12 and under.
Both juniors did extremely well in the competition. Graden Lomax scored first place in the Boys 8 Division at 6 under par with 102 strokes. David Cochran tied for 15th place (Top 7 in the U.S.) in the Boys 6 and under division with 9 over par and a total of 117 strokes. Both Graden Lomax and David Cochran are current Vantage Junior Members at TPC Tampa Bay and have taken private lessons with our PGA certified professional golf staff. Congrats to both boys for an outstanding job in this world tournament.
The weeklong experience includes a Parent/Child Tournament, Team Challenge, Parade of Nations, Honda Skills Challenge, three rounds of championship play and the Closing Ceremony. Following the three-day championship, is a one-day best ball tournament featuring the top twelve-year-olds from the United States squaring off against the top twelve-year-olds from the rest of the world. This year Team USA won the 2017 World Van Horn Cup 5-3.
