BELLINGHAM, Wash. – While SteelFiber shafts, the No. 1 graphite iron shafts in golf, were securing a victory at the Portland Open on the Web.com Tour and a Top 10 at The Northern Trust on the PGA Tour, the all-new TiFiber Tour 70 prototype driver shaft delivered its own Top 10 finish at the Boeing Classic on the Champions Tour. Designed and manufactured by Aerotech Golf, the unique TiFiber shaft prototypes feature a high-modulus graphite core with a full surface layer of Titanium Fiber and is the only shaft of its kind in the world.
At the Portland Open, the three-time NCAA Division II All-American from Missouri Western State University won his second event of the year playing a SteelFiber HLS880 graphite shaft in his hybrid club. Playing SteelFiber i95 shafts in his irons and a i110 shaft in his gap wedge, the 2012 Players Championship winner and 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist landed a T10 finish at The Northern Trust. Meanwhile on the Champions Tour, SteelFiber i95 and i110 shafts took shares of Top 10 money at the Boeing Classic with T5 and T6 finishes, respectively. The all-new Ti-Fiber Tour 70 prototype driver shaft also claimed a Top 10 with its own T6 finish.
“We’re extremely excited with this weekend’s results on the pro tours. Not only did SteelFiber shafts win and deliver Top 10s on the Web.com and PGA Tours, but our new TiFiber prototype driver shafts performed at the highest levels of the game,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “Aerotech Golf has long been the industry leader in metallic fiber-composites and SteelFiber technology revolutionized graphite iron shafts. Now, by incorporating the high strength, unprecedented stability and lighweight properties of titanium, we’re looking forward to TiFiber becoming a real game-changer in driver shafts.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
Last season, SteelFiber shafts delivered 20 wins on pro tours around the world as well as won the coveted CME Race for the Globe Trophy and 2016 Money Title on the LPGA Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts routinely rank high on the PGA Money List, Official World Golf Rankings and the FedEx Cup Season Points. In 2013, for example, SteelFiber players ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points and ended overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List. SteelFiber shafts won the highly prized FedEx Cup in 2012.
