ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 18, 2017) – Celebrated Santa Barbara-area golf coach Don Parsons, one of Golf Digest magazine’s “Best Teachers” in the state of California as voted by his peers, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 20 and Thursday, Sept. 21.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday and from 8:30-10:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.
Parsons, owner of Don Parsons Golf Instruction at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Goleta, Calif., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy, a dedicated network of top coaches and teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Parsons is making his second appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m looking forward to getting back in the studio and sharing some of my favorite lessons and tips with viewers of Morning Drive,” said Parsons, the 2003 Southern California PGA Teacher of the Year and four-time SC Northern Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year (1998, 2000-2002). “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches, and something I’m very proud to be associated with.”
An accomplished player, Parsons was a first-team All Big West Conference selection in 1989 for the Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara, and was recognized as the school’s Athlete of the Decade for the 1980s. While at UC Santa Barbara, he won the prestigious California Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links, the host site of this weekend’s PURE Insurance Championship on the PGA TOUR Champions.
A two-time SC Northern Chapter PGA Club Fitter of the Year (2011, ’13), Parsons has been a PGA Member since 1993 and will be elected into the Southern California PGA Teachers Hall of Fame in October. He holds several professional certifications, including Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 2 Certified Biomechanist and Level 3 Certified Golf Fitness Instructor-Golf Professional, and is an Advisory Staff Member for both Titleist and K-Vest.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, Parsons continues to teach the way he knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
