Justin Collins garners Tri-State PGA Section Championship, Match Play titles
(FARMINGTON, Pa.) – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort – the acclaimed luxury resort in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania – congratulates head golf professional Justin Collins on winning two prestigious Tri-State PGA Section tournaments.
Earlier this month, Collins defeated Denny Dolci 6 and 4 to win the Tri-State PGA Section Club Car Match Play Championship at Greensburg Country Club in Pennsylvania. His previous event, the Tri-State PGA Section Championship held at Nemacolin, Collins finished at 6-under par to win by three shots.
By virtue of his Tri-State PGA Section Championship win, Collins now qualifies for the Walter Hagen Cup at the 2018 PGA Professional Championship, where the top 20 finishers will go on to play at the PGA Championship. That tournament occurs June 17-20, 2018 at Bayonet Black Horse in California.
“We are extremely proud of Justin for his excellent play and professionalism in representing Nemacolin,” says Mike Jones, director of golf and recreation. “Not only is he an outstanding player, he is an incredible asset as part of our golf operations team.”
This past February, Collins came to Nemacolin from the exclusive Pete Dye Golf Club in West Virginia where he was the head golf professional for five years. Previously, he was the assistant golf professional at Ohio’s Scioto Country Club, and held positions at exclusive private clubs in Ohio and Florida. A three-year co-captain of the men’s golf team at The Ohio State University, Collins is a leadership advisory staff member for Titleist.
Nemacolin boasts two world-class Pete Dye designed golf courses destined for every golfer’s “must-play” list. Sitting high atop the Allegheny Mountains, Shepherd’s Rock opened in early July to rave reviews and is being lauded as one of the best new courses in the U.S. Mystic Rock, former host venue of the PGA TOUR’s 84 Lumber Classic, ranks in the top-60 in Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” and No. 1 in Golfweek’s “Best Courses You Can Play in Pennsylvania.”
The resort’s Nemacolin Golf Academy offers an array of game improvement programming with Golf Digest “Top 100 Teacher,” PGA Professional Eric Johnson, including: individual lessons, TrackMan® Golf Radar Solution, SAM Putt Lab, V1 Video System, BodiTracks, one-, two- and three-day golf schools, and one of the leading club-fitting centers on the East Coast. A commitment to growing the game also abounds, with numerous junior and family golf options.
