ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2017) – Dallas-area golf instructor Chris O’Connell, one of Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers in America” and swing coach to PGA Tour pro Matt Kuchar, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday, Oct. 4 and Thursday Oct. 5.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday, and from 7-8 a.m. ET on Thursday.
O’Connell, Director of Instruction for The Plane Truth at The Courses at Watters Creek in the Dallas suburb of Plano, is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; O’Connell is making his third appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to be on Morning Drive once again,” said O’Connell, who is also ranked among Golf Digest’s “Best Teachers” in the state of Texas. “I look forward to sharing some of my thoughts with the viewers at home on how they can improve their game.”
An accomplished player, O’Connell was captain of the University of Notre Dame men’s golf team for two seasons and also played briefly on the PGA Tour, competing in four events. O’Connell was mentored under renowned swing coach Jim Hardy, author of the best-selling golf instruction book which spawned the school’s name, The Plane Truth for Golfers. He is also the Vice President and Co-Founder of The Plane Truth Golf Institute, a business dedicated to training golf instructors and providing instruction to golfers around the world through innovative teaching tools.
O’Connell’s many accomplished students include multiple PGA Tour winners Hunter Mahan and Kuchar, who went 2-1-0 for the triumphant American squad this past weekend at the Presidents Cup in New Jersey. Kuchar, the 2012 PLAYERS champion, has been on the last four victorious American Presidents Cup squads (2011, ’13, ’15 and ’17) and was also on last year’s victorious U.S. Ryder Cup team at Hazeltine National in Minnesota.
