Special lodging rates available; event entry deadline is Nov. 1

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Oct. 10, 2017) – – Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club will host the 25th Annual Couples Golf Tournament, a 36-hole aggregate event played on the Gold and Green Courses, Monday, Nov. 6 and Tuesday, Nov. 7. The tournament is open to mixed teams of two people of any age and handicap, with the entry deadline at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1.

A favorite with Golden Horseshoe members and guests alike, the congenial golf gathering always delivers plenty of enjoyment as well as challenges on the links.

The tournament plays the first round in Captain’s Choice format, gross and net. The second round is four-ball (two person, best ball), gross and net. Competitors will be flighted based on each team’s total handicap. All handicaps will be verified by the USGA’s handicapping service (GHIN) prior to the tournament.

The entry fee of $495 per team includes Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 4 and 5) practice rounds ($30 cart fee per person is additional), on the Gold and Green Courses, two tournament rounds, golf carts for tournament rounds, tee gifts, prizes, Sunday barbecue dinner, Monday tournament banquet, Tuesday boxed lunches, and Tuesday closing reception.

Special room rates are available at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites, an official Colonial Williamsburg hotel, starting at $109 per room, per night, excluding tax and gratuity. Reservations may be made by calling 800-261-9530 and requesting the 2017 Couples Tournament participant rate.

The Golden Horseshoe’s three courses include the recently renovated Gold Course. A perennial Golf Digest Top 100, the Gold-originally designed in 1963 by Robert Trent Jones Sr.-re-opened in July following a restoration directed by his son, “The Open Doctor,” golf course architect Rees Jones.

Golden Horseshoe claims the first side-by-side, father-son-designed layout with the Green Course, which Rees Jones designed in 1991. The Spotswood Course, a classic short course layout, also designed by Trent Jones Sr., is perfect for quick rounds, family play or settling friendly wagers with your group.

All guests at Colonial Williamsburg Hotels also are entitled to discounts at official Colonial Williamsburg exhibits and museums.
