Celebrities from entertainment and sports world join together with Vidanta to raise funds
for Mexico Earthquake Victims and Delia Morán Foundation
Riviera Nayarit, MX (October 10, 2017) – Vidanta Golf, Mexico’s leading golf course operator and developer, hosted the Second Annual Vidanta Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament October 5-7, 2017 at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta. The event, in its second year, brought together celebrities from the worlds of entertainment and sports to raise money to benefit earthquake victims in Mexico City through CENACED (National Center for Epidemiological Contingencies and Natural Disasters) as well as the Delia Morán Foundation for underprivileged youth in Riviera Nayarit. The tournament showcased the fun and immaculately maintained Norman Signature Course along with the newest addition to the portfolio; The Lakes – Par 3 Course.
Three person amateur teams played a scramble format paired with one celebrity partner for the event. Current and former stars from the NFL, MLB, and NBA along with entertainment superstars were on hand this year including Johnny Damon (Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees star), Nancy Kerrigan (U.S. Olympic figure skating medalist), Matt Ginella (Golf Channel Host and Travel Expert), Jim McMahon (Chicago Bears Superbowl winning quarterback).
A total of $50,000 in prizes for first, second and third place in net and gross divisions was awarded. Along with the great golf, participants and their guests enjoyed a full weekend of activities with private parties, a spa experience, and the world-class accommodations and amenities at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta.
“As Mexico’s leading golf course developer, Vidanta Golf is consistently on the forefront of golf development and tourism,” said Iván Chavez, Executive Vice President of Grupo Vidanta. “We strive to bring the very best in the industry to our guests, which is why we host events like the Celebrity Invitational to showcase this incredible venue.”
The Celebrity Tournament benefits The Delia Morán Foundation, a charity for underprivileged youth developed in 2013 with the help of the Riviera Nayarit government that promotes learning and child development in the region. A portion of this year’s proceeds will also support the relief fund established by Grupo Vidanta assisting CENACED in recovery efforts for areas in central and southern Mexico affected by the devastating earthquakes in September. The 2017 Celebrity Invitational raised approximately $30,000 USD for the two charities through entries and a silent auction.
