JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 15, 2017) – For the second consecutive year, Pat Perez wasted very little time finding the winner’s circle early in a PGA Tour season. Just six events into the 2016-2017 campaign, Perez claimed the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Mexico but this past Sunday, the 41-year-old San Diego native did even better, cruising to an easy four-stroke victory over Keegan Bradley at the CIMB Classic in just the second tournament on the 2017-2018 PGA Tour schedule, played on the West Course at TPC Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Perez’ victory in Asia was his third career title on the PGA Tour and his win this year was the first by a member of Team Secret Golf, a 17-member team of Tour professionals, each with their own Player Channel on the popular website – secretgolf.com. Last year, five different members of Team Secret Golf won titles on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Web.com Tour.
It took Perez 182 starts between his first Tour title and his second, at last year’s OHL Classic at Mayakoba. The wait for No. 3 was just 24 events and vaulted him up to No. 20 in the Official World Golf Rankings. “I really can’t explain it; it’s been an amazing 12 months,” said Perez after his recent victory. ” I can’t explain it, but I hope it continues.”
Team Secret Golf, which includes former major champions Jackie Burke, Steve Elkington, Brittany Lang and Stacy Lewis, now has claimed 113 events collectively on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Web.com Tour.
“I’m very happy for PP. He loves life in his own style but I also know he works very hard on his golf game. Pat is living proof that there’s more than one way to get it done and I hope people will check out his Player Channel on our website and see what a unique perspective he has,” said Elkington, the co-founder of Secret Golf.
