ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2017) – Acclaimed teaching professional Kevin Weeks, one of Golf Digest magazine’s “50 Best Teachers in America,” is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday, Oct. 18, and Thursday, Oct. 19.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday, and from 8-9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.
Weeks, PGA Director of Instruction at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in the Chicago suburb of Palos Park, Ill., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Weeks is making his second appearance on Morning Drive.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be on Morning Drive once again,” said Weeks, a three-time Illinois PGA Section Teacher of the Year and finalist for PGA National Teacher of the Year honors. “I look forward to sharing some of my favorite playing lessons and game-improvement tips with the viewers at home.”
Part of an elite group of coaches to be named to both Golf Digest’s “50 Best Teachers” and Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers” lists, Weeks was named a U.S. Kids Golf Master Instructor in 2013 for his commitment to developing junior players. More than 95 of his students have gone on to play college golf at such noteworthy programs as Stanford, Notre Dame and the University of Illinois, and he has taught 12 NCAA All-Americans and more than 175 Illinois State High School qualifiers.
Just recently, Weeks’ PGA Junior League All-Star team qualified for its second National Championship, which will take place at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Golf Channel will air highlights from the competition on Dec. 5.
Weeks also has enjoyed plenty of success coaching on the professional level. His past and current students have accumulated 12 PGA Tour wins and more than 25 combined Top 10 finishes on the PGA and Web.com (formerly Nationwide) Tours.
Weeks joined the teaching staff at Cog Hill in 1996. Ranked among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” by Golf Digest, Cog Hill’s Dubsdread course was home to the PGA Tour’s Western Open from 1991-2006 and BMW Championship in 2007, ’09, ’10 and ’11. It has also hosted a U.S. Amateur and two U.S. Amateur Public Links.
