(PEBBLE BEACH, CALIF.) – Youth on Course – the non-profit providing young people with subsidized golf, college scholarships, caddie programs and paid internships – generated $115,485 this week during its annual online auction to support the nationally-expanding program to remove cost as a barrier to entry for potential lifetime golfers.
By raising $115,485, Youth on Course will be able to fund 23,097 ‘$5 or less’ rounds of golf for its members. With over 100 individual bidders, this year’s auction raised $20,639 more than the 2016 auction.
“We challenged our supporters to break the auction record set in 2016, and they rose to the occasion,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “These funds will enable Youth on Course to continue its mission to provide affordable life changing opportunities to today’s youth through golf.”
This year’s auction items ranged from an Ireland golf trip, to a Chicago Cubs Spring Training package, to stay-and-play packages at some of America’s top golf destinations. All the auction items were generously donated by charitable donors, golf courses and corporations. One hundred percent of the profits go directly to Youth on Course.
Born in Northern California, Youth on Course helps fund rounds of golf for members to increase affordability and accessibility to the game. The organization is growing throughout America, with a presence in 19 states and regions and over 30,000 kids ages 6-18 who can play at over 700 partner courses. The organization awarded $315,000 in college scholarships this year, up from $244,000 in 2016, with the total exceeding $1.2 million.
Support for Youth on Course drives the organization’s growth across America. The program has been recognized by The Golf Channel and Golf Digest as an essential bridge between youth instruction and consistent play throughout adulthood. NBA MVP Steph Curry is a vocal ambassador of the program.
