Highly anticipated third course at Streamsong Resort tops Golf Magazine list
STREAMSONG, FLORIDA – Nov. 21, 2017 – After only a month of public play, Streamsong Black has been heralded by GOLF Magazine as the Best New Course of 2017, an award that was unveiled in the December issue of the magazine. The course was designed by 2016 Olympic Golf Course Architect Gil Hanse, his business partner Jim Wagner and their team. It has taken the golf industry by storm as one of the most anticipated course openings in recent years and created a groundswell of interest from golf industry leaders, journalists and resort guests alike long before the official course opening on Sept. 29.
“Our team put significant energy into the creation of Streamsong Black, and we’re honored to be recognized as the best new course in the U.S. for 2017,” said Rich Mack, executive vice president and CFO of The Mosaic Company and sponsor of Streamsong Resort. “Streamsong Black is big, bold and fun, and really a perfect complement to the momentum that we’ve built with Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue. We are fortunate to work with Gil Hanse, Tom Doak, Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who are the best at their craft in this industry. Streamsong Black is a testament to our dedicated team, partners and fans from around the world. It will continue to drive our commitment to delivering an exceptional golf experience at Streamsong at levels that we hope will be thoroughly enjoyed by our guests.”
The GOLF Magazine rankings are based on input from a group of panelists, led by Architecture and Course Rankings Editor Joe Passov, who notes that Streamsong Black stands out for its “wider fairways, bigger bunkers, larger greens, more expansive views, and tremendous memorability from hole to hole.” The publication cites that “debate will be fierce in the years ahead as to which of the Streamsong courses is top dog.”
In less than five years since opening, Streamsong Resort® has received numerous accolades from the golf industry for its award-winning golf courses. Among its recent accolades, Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue were ranked #1 and #3 respectively on Golf Digest’s list of “Florida’s Best Public Courses” and #10 and #14 respectively on GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S.” With the addition of Streamsong Black, the resort is now the only location in the world where players can enjoy three distinct courses designed by four legendary architects – Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, Tom Doak, and Gil Hanse.
In conjunction with the opening of Streamsong Black, the resort also introduced The Roundabout and The Gauntlet. The Roundabout is a free-flowing practice facility, also designed by Hanse’s team, which features several green complexes and practice holes to accommodate the increase in play. The Roundabout includes an alternate 9th green, providing a play-in option for guests looking to play a shorter, nine-hole loop back to the Clubhouse. The Gauntlet, a dynamic 2-acre putting course, sits immediately outside of the Streamsong Black Clubhouse. The Gauntlet was designed to challenge the putting skills of all players, beginners to pros.
The Streamsong Tour Package is available for guests and groups that wish to play three of the most highly acclaimed and widely pursued courses in the game today – Streamsong Blue, Streamsong Red, and the new Streamsong Black.
