New Picnic Under the Stars Experience available at Four Seasons Resort Lanai
LANA’I, HAWAI’I, Nov. 28, 2017 – By reading the clear night skies, Polynesians found their way across the Pacific, to the islands of Hawaii. Today’s astronomers can look to the cosmos on Lanai to stargaze, interpreted as Kilo Hoku in the Hawaiian language. The secluded island’s lack of light pollution means one is likely to see an infinite number of twinkling stars in the heavens above. And, with the new Picnic Under the Stars experience at Four Seasons Resort Lanai, guests will search for constellations with a bevy of amenities by their side, perfect for a celestial adventure.
While the naked eye can spot many stars, especially far from the bright lights of any city, Celestron SkyMaster high-performance binoculars are ideal for astronomical viewing, especially over long distances. Download a popular phone app, check out a copy of a monthly stargazing map courtesy of the Imiloa Astronomy Center (part of the University of Hawaii, Hilo) spread out on a comfy Four Seasons blanket and aim the set of binoculars on a star.
While savoring the view, enjoy a selection of desserts from Four Seasons chefs and a half-bottle of bubbly prosecco to toast a shooting star, a sign of good luck, many say. Guests are likely to see the Southern Cross (HÌãånaiakamalama), Polaris (HÌÉåkÌÉåÇpa’a), Orion (KaheiheionÌãåkeiki), Cassiopeia (‘Iwakeli’i ) and the Big Dipper (‘Iwakeli’i).
Four Seasons Resort Lanai features 213 guestrooms in a series of low-rise buildings spread along the Pacific coastline and immersed in Hawaiian botanical gardens, providing a private residential experience. Additional facilities include the signature ONE FORTY restaurant, Malibu Farm, NOBU LANAI, a spa and wellness program, variety of complimentary activities, luxury retail boutiques, tennis, as well as plenty of activities.
