“We are proud to conduct this first GOLFZON America Simulator Championship as this type of competition becomes more of a fixture for golfers in the United States,” Tommy Lim, CEO of GOLFZON America, said. “Simulator golf has been instrumental in introducing the game in our home country, South Korea, and recent numbers indicate there is a great opportunity to have a similar effect here.
“Based on GOLFZON research from 2015, 80 percent of total new golfers in South Korea use simulation golf to get started, including the successful introduction to the game for many PGA TOUR and LPGA players.”
GOLFZON has conducted the GOLFZON International Tournament the last two years at Zoimaru, GOLFZON’s headquarters in Daejeon, South Korea. Last September, 12 players representing South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, China, Australia and the United States competed for $13,000 in prizes and the honor of being crowned the GOLFZON world champion. Competition consisted of two rounds, with the first round played on GOLFZON’s digital Ansung Q course in Zoimaru’s state-of-the-art simulator stadium and the second on the real-life Ansung Q course. Han Xue Gang of China won the 2017 championship.
