NORTHBROOK, Ill., Dec. 13, 2017 – KemperSports announced today that Sand Valley, the first course at Sand Valley Golf Resort, recently received “Best New” honors from GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest.
Sand Valley was honored by GOLF Magazine as their “Best New You Can Play” course while being honored by Golf Digest as the “Best New” course of 2017.
According to Golf Digest Architecture editor Ron Whitten, “The visual impact of the stunning Sand Valley course at Sand Valley Golf Resort is immediate and gasp-inducing. It begins with the opening tee shot, off a high sand dune dubbed The Volcano, to a ribbon of rumpled fairway flanked by vast expanses of natural, exposed sand, dotted with low-growing vegetation and copses of pines.”
Sand Valley opened May 2, 2017, under rave reviews. Located in Nekoosa, Wis., and designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, Sand Valley brings a heathland golf experience to the heartland of the country. Sand Valley was honored by GOLF Magazine as the “Best New You Can Play” as well as being honored by Golf Digest as their “Best New” course of 2017.
Development at Sand Valley Golf Resort will continue as the resort will open two new golf courses in 2018, including:
• Sandbox – May 1 – designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the 17-hole, par-3 course offers creativity amongst a wide range of shots.
• Mammoth Dunes – May 31 – Nearly 20 years after David McLay Kidd designed Bandon Dunes, he returns to work on a dynamic piece of land with sand ridges and blowouts.
