Knowles Family Director of Stanford Men’s Golf to serve as consultant to CEO
OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 18, 2017 – Mobile golf technology startup, 18Birdies, today announced that Conrad Ray will be consulting with the company as a strategic advisor. Conrad will continue to serve as Knowles Family Director of Stanford Men’s Golf. The announcement comes on the heels of Conrad getting inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Hall of Fame during the GCAA National Convention in Las Vegas.
Conrad has a long history with the Stanford program as he was a former Cardinal standout student-athlete on the golf team. As head coach, Conrad has achieved numerous accolades including being named the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year in 2007 and twice being named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year. His teams have appeared in 11 NCAA Championships with his team winning the title in 2007. Conrad has also helped produce two Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award recipients, two Ben Hogan Award winners and a Byron Nelson Award.
“I’ve been really impressed with the 18Birdies technology,” said Ray. “Having worked with young golfers for most of my career, I see how it can be a great platform for college and high school programs to adopt and allow coaches to stay better connected and engaged with their student-athletes, who are constantly using social media and smartphones in their daily lives.”
18Birdies has already shown rapid adoption among Millennials, who make up 60 percent of its user base that has already surpassed 800,000 since launching in January 2016, making it the fastest growing golf utility app in the market.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have someone of Conrad’s caliber join the team,” said 18Birdies Founder and CEO, Eddy Lui. “We will be working very closely together to make sure the 18Birdies platform meets all the needs of today’s college and high school golf programs.”
