(RESTON, VA) – Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – the trend-setting manager of golf courses, country clubs and resorts – was chosen by A. Wilbert’s Sons, LLC to manage golf and recreational offerings for The Island Country Club in Plaquemine, La.
BCG was chosen as a strategic management partner to oversee golf operations as well as The Island’s many amenities including the restaurant, pool, tennis and fitness facilities. Selected for its ability to recruit top industry talent, implement creative marketing and membership growth strategies and enhance the level of member / guest services, BCG also manages Copper Mill Golf Course located less than 20 miles north in Baton Rouge.
BCG will guide golf course maintenance, marketing, sales, staffing and training, merchandising, food and beverage, golf instruction and financial management for The Island’s 160-acre Tif-Eagle course. Operations will be locally-managed by a professional golf and agronomic team, and supported by both a regional and national team that provide expert guidance and direction in all facets of the business.

An important part of the Plaquemine community, The Island is a member of Louisiana’s Audubon Golf Trail, a collection of first-class courses throughout the state. Although named for naturalist / artist John James Audubon, who painted a number of his famous bird studies in Louisiana, all members of the Audubon Golf Trail are coincidentally also members of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf Courses, a program dedicated to protecting the environment and preserving the natural heritage of the game of golf. As part of BCG Green, a revolutionary environmental protection initiative, all BCG courses are also enrolled in the Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary program.
