BUFFALO, NY December 21, 2017 – OnCore Golf Technology, Inc., a leading innovator in golf ball technologies announced today a partnership with vGolf, LLC that the two companies expect will significantly impact enjoyment of the game and take entertainment to a whole new level.
OnCore Golf previously announced plans for the development of the GENiUS BALL™ – a smart ball with embedded advanced chip-set technology that captures an array of performance data including ball velocity, spin rate, spin angle, trajectory, GPS location, distance to the tee, and more. All of this information will be delivered to the player’s mobile phone and a back-end portal for insights and understanding of their game not previously available on-course.
vGolf, LLC has developed mixed reality technologies that deliver the ultimate immersive golf experience. vGolf utilizes augmented reality glasses to blend the real world with a virtual reality overlay. Combining vGolf’s mixed reality technology with the data generated by the GENiUS BALL, the two companies believe that an entirely new golf experience will be possible. Golfers can play their favorite courses with a GENiUS BALL and, using the vGolf AR glasses, see a visual trace of their golf ball’s flight path in real time for every shot, combined with a head’s up display readout of their performance data. Each shot is recorded along with course and hole details and uploaded to a cloud-based server for review later on a tablet or PC or even “replayed” using a 3D graphic that can also be generated at home with the vGolf AR glasses.
This combination of technologies and the data they will provide is being launched in 2018 under the tradename The Virtual Caddy™. The Virtual Caddy is intended to become a personal golf assistant which can be used on any golf course to further augment real play with complete shot and course data in real-time, shot replay and competitive data across a foursome. In addition, the companies are working with industry leaders to bring artificial intelligence to the shared platform which will provide true predictive and suggestive player actions.
