Although Dave and the operation have been executing at the highest level for close to 55 years and it’s obvious their customer centric, personal touch philosophy is their linchpin, one of their greatest strengths is that they’re perpetually evolving, embracing new concepts and platforms. We’ll have many of their “best practices” posted on our member’s only intranet site. In fact, during our chats Ryan mentioned to me that in addition to the enhanced buying power the NGBA offers he was looking forward to the exchange of ideas and best practices that this association that includes many of golf’s top independent golf merchants offers.
Ryan worked for a big brand outside golf before as he put it deciding to return to the business that had his name over the door. So, while he brings some fresh energy and out of the box perspective, he and the family fiercely believe Austad’s has achieved its long-term success by nurturing in some cases 3rd generation consumer relationships thanks to a “treat them like family” philosophy dovetailed with a commitment to excellence in areas like personal club fitting.
