Young Georgian now 20th member of illustrious group
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (January 9, 2018) – Secret Golf, one of the world’s fastest-growing digital golf instruction outlets, believes Lee McCoy could be the real McCoy! The company, co-founded by former major champion Steve Elkington, recently inked the 23-year-old McCoy to an agreement that will in-clude his own Player Channel on secretgolf.com and exposure to the vast market of junior golfers.
McCoy, a first-team All-American at the University of Georgia and a former member of both the American Walker Cup and Palmer Cup teams in 2015, is set to play on the Web.com Tour this year af-ter earning medalist honors at the circuit’s qualifying tournament in the fall. In 2017, McCoy won the first event of the season on the Mackenzie Tour (PGA Tour Canada), claiming the Freedom 55 Finan-cial Open.
As an amateur in 2016, McCoy finished fourth at the PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship near Tampa, tying the lowest score of the event with a five-under-par 66 in the third round. He was also the indi-vidual medalist at the Southeastern Conference men’s golf championship that year and helped Geor-gia win the team portion of the event. “I love talking about golf and it’s intricacies and Secret Golf will soon be a perfect outlet for me to do so, ” McCoy said. “Hopefully, I can help players of all levels save a few shots along the way when they access my Player Channel. This is going to be fun and I’m very ex-cited.”
Elkington, a 10-time winner on the PGA Tour, including the 1995 PGA Championship and two Players Championships, is happy to have a player like McCoy on Team Secret Golf. “I think Lee is one of the up-and-coming new faces in golf and people are going to notice him on the big stage very soon,” he said. “I think he’s going to appeal to quite a few of the kids playing this great game. He has that kind of connection with his personality.”
In addition to Elkington, McCoy now joins World Golf Hall of Fame member Jackie Burke, two-time LPGA Tour Player of the Year Stacy Lewis, and PGA Champion Jason Dufner on the team. Other members of Team Secret Golf include Tour professionals Bronson Burgoon, Jason Gore, Brian Har-man, Patton Kizzere, Colt Knost, Jason Kokrak, Ryan Palmer, Pat Perez, Martin Piller, Chris Stroud and Ethan Tracy.
