ORLANDO, FL. – Kay McMahon, LPGA and PGA Member, President of eduKaytion golf and creator of Golf 8.5, will be one of the presenting sponsors and speakers at the 13th Annual Tour Edge Multi-Manufacturer Media Day, Monday January 22 at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. More than 100 editors and writers that cover golf equipment, travel and apparel will be attending the event.
McMahon, an active member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals since 1979, has been teaching golf for more than 30 years. She is the creator and innovator of Golf 8.5 – a simple approach to learning and improving your golf swing. Golf 8.5 identifies and teaches golfers 8.5 steps to a classic, consistent and repeatable golf swing. Four pre-swing elements and 4.5 in swing elements. Her mantra is that golf is not hard, and with Golf 8.5 – it’s simple!
McMahon is a member of the LPGA Teaching Hall of Fame and is a past National President of the LPGA T&CP.
“At eduKaytion Golf, we are on a mission to grow golfers and Golf 8.5 is the answer,” said McMahon, “I’m excited to present this breakthrough approach to learning the golf swing to such a distinguished audience and cross-section of the golf industry’s top journalists.”
McMahon, who holds a degree in education, designed a simple teaching model for Golf 8.5. The program is presented in chunks, position by position, in a slow, repetitive motion combined with a buddy system. As a result, the learning curve is accelerated, students understand and can self-correct their swing and quickly gain the confidence and a level of success to go play.
“What I’m trying to do is de-clutter golfer’s minds,” McMahon said. “My objective is for people to know their swings and identify what they should be doing. Too many swings are taught like Post-It notes: tack them on a wall, pick out one swing thought and try to go play that day. That’s not a formula for success.”
“Kay McMahon may be golf’s most important person, ” wrote Gary Van Sickle recently in the Morning Read (Nov. 1, 2017) for a series called “Thinking Outside the Tee Box.” “She has a Harvey Penick-like knack for keeping things simple,” continued Sickle, “And a nail-on-the-head mission statement: To simplify the way we teach the golf swing so we can grow golfers.”
McMahon was recently recognized as one of the LPGA’s Top 50 Best Teachers. eduKaytion Golf is headquartered at MetroWest Golf Club in Orlando, Fl. To learn more about Golf 8.5 visit www.eduKaytiongolf.com or contact Kay at 518-669-1551.
