SINGER ISLAND, FL, JANUARY 17, 2018 — Fairways for Freedom™, a Public Charity whose mission is to help Combat-injured Veterans heal and assimilate back into the civilian world through the game of golf and other holistic initiatives, is announcing an expanded schedule of international trips and U.S. retreats for 2018. The charity, which has helped more than 110 Combat-injured Veterans in the past five years, has confirmed two incredible journeys to Ireland in September. One will be based at the elegant Mount Falcon Hotel and Estate in Western Ireland. Ten veterans will be joined by eight sponsoring “Ambassadors” for a week of great links golf and other therapeutic activities such as fly fishing, archery and hiking. A second trip will concentrate on the Northwestern corner of Ireland, including Ballyliffin (site of this year’s Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory McIlroy Foundation), and the acclaimed Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort.

Fairways for Freedom will also conduct three veterans-only retreats in 2018: at Red Ledges Resort in Utah (May), Crumpin’ Fox Golf Club in Massachusetts (June) and Sebonack Golf Club on Long Island (October). The retreats, designed for 10-12 veterans, will offer a welcoming environment for beginning and experienced golfers.

Fairways for Freedom™ specializes in creating and administering trips to Ireland, Scotland and other bucket-list destinations for Combat-injured Veterans. “We are excited that our unique program has continued to grow each year since our first veterans’ trip to Ireland in 2012,” says Roger Schiffman, FFF’s Founder and Director. “One of the goals is to connect leaders in the business community (Ambassador/ Donors) with veterans on these golf trips. We are also indebted to our sponsors, which include Titleist, Octagon, Smathers & Branson, EcoGolf and Shipsticks.”

Indeed, business professionals serve as not only sponsors to the veterans, but also as mentors, and, in turn, learn what true sacrifice is all about. Says FFF Co-founder and Executive Director Dr. Patricia Donnelly: “World-class golf courses provide an exhilarating environment for building these relationships. In addition to golf, the Veterans-all suffering from visible and/or invisible injuries-take part in therapeutic sessions, such as daily Yoga designed for those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), mindfulness activities and group therapy sessions dealing with psychosocial issues.”

Fairways for Freedom™ provides Combat-injured Veterans with instruction and practice in evidence- informed, clinically tested, self-regulation techniques; opportunities for therapeutic, recreational, and community-building social activities; training on healthy lifestyle choices; and education about community- based Veterans resources for post-retreat reintegration.
