STERLING, Virginia, USA (January 18, 2018) – GOLFZON (www.golfzongolf.com ) will display the new Vision Compact model simulator, its fully installed ARCADE gaming software and discuss the momentum developed in golf engagement via alternative methods, including the recently completed first GOLFZON America Simulator Championship and simulator placement at select PGA European Tour events, during the 2018 PGA Merchandise Show January 24-26 in Orlando, Florida. (Booth No. 3251).
The Vision Compact is a smaller version of the highly touted GOLFZON hardware, with a less expensive price point and easy installation but the same wide range of simulator capabilities which earned GOLFZON a 2017 Golf Digest Editors’ Choice Award.
“The Vision Compact is perfect for home entertainment,” said Tommy Lim, the CEO of GOLFZON America. “It is similar to a plug-and-play concept that makes it easier to both install and play, but with full online access, 171 courses available for play, unlimited data storage and the ability to participate in online regional, national and international tournaments.
“Vision Compact, ARCADE and multi-location simulator competition are among the new products and initiatives we have scheduled to present during the PGA Merchandise Show. We continue to focus on our goal of developing simulator golf for players of all ages and to increase the opportunity for those who are new to the game to have more more fun, increase practice options and competitive avenues in a convenient and enjoyable setting.”
GOLFZON will have its ARCADE software (https://youtu.be/9GnC5FLC7Qo ) fully available for play only on the Vision Curved simulator at the booth. ARCADE presents golf games such as darts and block golf for inventive ways to enjoy the sport.
The capabilities of competitive simulator golf were also recently tested during the first GOLFZON America Simulator Championship. From December 2017 until mid-January, 14 locations around the United States, Canada and Mexico hosted the free competition that awarded winners in eight different categories. The overall winner was Chris Wilson, a former Colgate University golfer, who played at Golf Wing in Markham, Ontario, Canada. There were 180 participants at all sites. First place overall won a $2,000 travel voucher and the top 10 in the stroke ranking received prizes. There were more than $20,000 in prizes for the contest. GOLFZON has conducted the GOLFZON International Tournament the last two years at Zoimaru, GOLFZON’s headquarters in Daejeon, South Korea, with $13,000 in prizes.
GOLFZON will also conduct a PGA Show Education Session, entitled “Making Simulator Golf Fun and More Profitable For Everyone,” for PGA Professionals on Wednesday from 2:15-3:15 p.m., in W116, Room 103. All PGA Professionals earn credit for attending. The session will be led by Joel Smith, GOLFZON’s Director of Sales for the Northeast Region in New York, and Jeff Ritter, a GOLFZON Ambassador who is the Founder/Director of Performance, MAKE THE TURN Performance, Poppy Hills Golf Course, Pebble Beach, CA.
GOLFZON will hold a competition with a Closest to the Pin contest scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the GOLFZON Booth. Approach shots on the ninth and 18th holes at Pebble Beach Golf Links will be used with each participant getting two shots. All participants will receive two GOLFZON-branded Titleist golf balls and prizes will be awarded to first through third places that include an Apple MacBook Air, iPad Pro and iPad Mini, respectively.
GOLFZON is providing a simulator for the Seven Dreamers room (W304D) during the Japanese company’s first venture to the PGA Show to test and show its new carbon golf club shaft.
The summation of these events continues the recent trend of alternative golf opportunities contributing to golf’s growth. Based on GOLFZON research from 2015, 80 percent of total new golfers in South Korea use simulation golf to get started, including the successful introduction to the game for many PGA TOUR and LPGA players. Also, the National Golf Foundation’s 2017 Golf Industry Overview indicated an 11 percent increase in off-course participation for 2016 “from the popular facilities like Topgolf and Flying Tee to the indoor simulators found in facilities like PGA Tour Superstore and GOLFZON.”
