Daly’s extensive knowledge of club head performance, instrumental in design of new Vertical Groove Fairway Wood; Tour-proven Vertical Groove technology resulted in #1 distance & #2 accuracy driver on the PGA Tour Champions in 2017
Jupiter, FL … January 22, 2018 … On the heels of a successful debut season for the world’s only Vertical Groove Driver, today the first-ever Vertical Groove Fairway Wood was unveiled in partnership with 2-time Major Champion, John Daly, at the 2018 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. The Vertical Groove Fairway Wood will be available for testing at the PGA Show Demo Day, Tuesday, January 23rd at Orange County National Golf Center, as well as at the Equipment Test Center on the floor of the PGA Show, January 24-26.
The new fairway wood from Vertical Groove Golf, LLC, which conforms to the Rules of Golf, will be put into play by the Company’s Global Ambassadors, including Daly, Rocco Mediate and a stable other professional golfers competing on the PGA TOUR Champions, PGA TOUR and other worldwide professional golf events in 2018. The Vertical Groove Fairway is now available at vertgolf.com.
Vertical Groove Technology is proven to reduce spin at impact, forcing tighter dispersion and leading to straighter ball flight and greater distance. The effectiveness of the technology was validated by the performance of the Vertical Groove Driver in its first season on the PGA TOUR Champions in 2017, ending the year with two victories and ranked #1 in Driving Distance and #2 in Driving Accuracy, and prompting the Company to expedite its expanded product line.
“The Vertical Groove Driver enjoyed an impressive debut last year, highlighted by two victories, including the U.S. Sr. Open Championship, and increased usage among top professionals competing on the PGA TOUR Champions in 2017,” said Rubin Hanan, COO & Managing Partner, Vertical Groove Golf. “Continued success at the highest level is the greatest product endorsement, and backed by the success of the VG Driver, we anticipate strong usage with the Vertical Groove Fairway Woods in 2018.”

VGG & John Daly Debut Fairway Wood…Add One
Hanan adds, “In addition to being one of the greatest drivers of all time, Daly has always been a very strong fairways player, and we knew he would be the perfect ambassador to collaborate with for Vertical Groove Golf. His success with the Vertical Groove Driver in 2017, including his first victory in 13 years, coupled with his extensive knowledge of club head technology, helped us finalize the specs on our new Fairway wood and it’s now ready for both tour action, and consumer use, in 2018.”
The cutting edge 180cc Vertical Groove 3-Wood is available in right-handed 14 & 15 degree lofts. The 14 degree is a tour model with a forward weight to promote lower launch and less spin. Both models feature Aldila’s premium grade, tour-proven aftermarket NV2K green shafts for Ladies and seniors, and the Aldila NV2KV Blue shafts will be available in Regular, Stiff, and X-stiff. The available flexes and weights include: 45 gram L (Ladies), 50 gram A (Senior), 60 gram R (Regular), 70 gram S (Stiff) and 70 gram X (Extra-stiff).
At a length of 43 inches, the Vertical Groove Fairway Wood, which provides an optimum launch angle while maximizing carry distance and ball speed for many players, is equipped with Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips in standard, midsize and oversize models. Alternative shaft options from Fujikura, Mitsubishi and Aldila are also available. Suggested retail price is $259.99.
Additional Vertical Groove Fairway models, including a 3-Wood and 5-Wood, featuring 18 degree lofts, are currently undergoing extensive testing and will be available in spring 2018.
