CARLSBAD, Calif. (January 31, 2018) – Nippon Shaft recorded two early-season victories this month, as the reigning Masters’ champion won easily in Singapore and an up-and-coming Chinese star edged golf’s most accomplished Northern Irishman by one shot in Dubai.

The 38-year-old Spanish star, who will be defending his first Masters’ title in April, posted a five-shot victory at the Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore (Jan. 21), utilizing Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 130 X-flex steel shafts in his irons and wedges. He shot 14-under par with rounds of 66-70-66-68-270 to capture his 33rd professional victory, his sixth on the Asian Tour.

Also using the Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 120 X-flex steel shafts in his irons and wedges was China’s emerging 22-year-old star, who won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic by a stroke on Jan. 28 at Emirates Golf Club. He birdied four of the final six holes to post a final round 69 and finish at 23-under par, grabbing his second European Tour title.

With the victory, he became the first Chinese player to break into the Top 50 on the World Golf Ranking (32nd) and has earned a spot in the Masters.

The victories were the 125th and 126th for Nippon Shaft’s MODUS3 steel shafts since they were introduced to tour players staring in July 2009.

“Nippon Shaft is very proud that two outstanding players – at different stages in their careers – would entrust their swings to Nippon Shaft,” said Hiro Fukuda, Sales and Marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We look forward to watching both compete this year at Augusta National.”

Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands. Details of these can be found at www.nipponshaft.com

Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia. Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad.
