“Husk+Vine” transforms member dining experience with modern speakeasy-style bar & brill
DALLAS (February 6, 2018) – The new Husk+Vine clubhouse restaurant at Montgomery Country Club, part of the Arcis Golf portfolio of clubs, has earned top honors by Golf Inc. magazine, taking first place in the prestigious Golden Fork Awards.
Named the overall winner in the New Private Club Facilities category, the Laytonsville, Md., restaurant was up against elite clubs worldwide, with the final judging based on criteria that included guest satisfaction, aesthetics, service, menus, revenue and capital improvements.
Golf Inc.’s annual Golden Fork Awards recognized 12 golf venues that have introduced new dining facilities or have improved existing culinary options during the past year. The complete list of winners and accompanying stories appear in the January/February issue of the golf industry trade periodical, accessible at www.golfincmagazine.com.
“This is a tremendous honor and very deserving recognition for the creativity and hard work that went into the complete transformation of our dining experience,” said Kieron Mooney, General Manager of Montgomery Country Club. “Both the membership and management appreciate the significance of winning this award, with our club being acknowledged as an industry leader.”
Called Husk+Vine for its innovative pairing of local produce with select wines from across America, the reimagining of this new restaurant was part of Arcis Golf’s $1.5 million investment in Montgomery Country Club since assuming ownership.
“Arcis Golf is thrilled to see the renovation of Montgomery Country Club awarded for excellence,” said Blake S. Walker, Founder and CEO of Arcis Golf, the Dallas-based golf ownership and management company with 60 clubs and courses nationwide in its portfolio. “Montgomery Country Club illustrates Arcis Golf’s commitment to consistently provide unrivaled amenities and tailor every element of the golf and country club experience to exceed our member and guest needs and expectations.”
The traditions of Montgomery County’s rich farming region have been captured in both the design and menu of Husk + Vine. The reimagined restaurant combines a speakeasy-style bar and grill, leading to the adjacent patio and an inviting casual, comfortable family atmosphere. The fresh, open floorplan creates a sense of energy and movement. Pendant lighting and a Community Table were artfully used to pull the spaces together.
The modernized feel – with large, multi-level outdoor patios, redesigned social areas, and private-event venues – showcase expansive views of the club’s golf course. The new design honors the history of surrounding Montgomery County, implementing use of dark woods and deep navy hues, and many different textures that reflect the character of the early 1900s. Replica works of art are on display throughout the clubhouse, along with a map of Montgomery County, circa 1850.
From farm-fresh produce to cracklin’ bread and crab cakes, a bit of traditional, rustic flavor has been incorporated into culinary creations from seasonal dishes to tried-and-true comfort food.
“We have changed the mindset of the usual golf club dining experience by focusing on fresh indigenous flavors, genuine service, and transcendent ideas,” Mooney said. “Our members, their families, and guests have a distinctive, relaxed setting, regardless if they choose the beautiful patio or the new dining and bar area.”
