PHOENIX (Feb. 13, 2018) – A focus on technological innovation, premium performance fabrics, superior comfort, and new color stories elevates quality and visual continuity across PING Apparel’s new Spring-Summer ’18 collections for men and women. The clothing and accessories are available in select golf shops now.
“This collection re-emphasizes the high importance we place on performance for our clothing and for golfers – they are intertwined,” said Andy Solheim, PING Executive Vice President. “Our designers and our technology partners have done a great job elevating comfort, breathability and freedom of movement while tailoring every design to the modern game. Our clothing moves with the golfer, and the new fabrics, styles and colors put PING Apparel in a class by itself.”
One key addition is Tekfit® Technology, which provides up to two additional inches of waistband stretch in select garments to improve freedom and range of movement. This hidden technology is fully breathable and maintains its stretch memory for the life of the garment. Tekfit is found in two new men’s shorts — the Hendrick and the Bradley — and in the ladies’ Livia skort.
Solheim said the SS18 collection carries on with its Sensor Technology Platform – SensorWarm, SensorCool, and SensorDry – clothing custom-engineered to perform from base layer to outer layer to meet the demands of golf. “Sensor Technology is a meaningful, practical point of difference with PING Apparel, allowing us to take a big step forward in comfort and performance whether you’re playing in cool spring weather, the wind and rain, or midsummer heat.”
MEN’S
PING Apparel continues to innovate by sourcing unique performance fabrications direct from its mill partners. The Elliott blends polyester CoolMax, and elastane, resulting in full comfort for all-weather climates and temperatures. A new polo, the Harvey, is constructed with a unique peached fabric with a very soft and quiet hand. This space-dyed polo also features a concealed button-down collar and a three-button grown-on placket. A new butter-soft baby pique fabric is featured in the Quinn polo while the Connor uses the same soft, peachy feel of the Harvey. The Karsten II is made of a premium fabric blend of polyester, tencel and elastane.
The men’s color stories are Drift Away, Purple Haze, and Disruption. Drift Away features Seafoam green as the lead color, creating a contemporary collection. Seafoam offers a fresh, cooling mid tone and combines with black, silver and asphalt to give depth to this refined summer palette. Paired with white and grey toned neutrals, Seafoam presents a youthful appeal. Purple Haze is a sophisticated palette combining shades of rich plum paired with cool celestial blues and core navy, offering a smooth transition from winter to spring. Disruption combines vibrant imperial blue with pops of orange burst and with core navy and white to make a statement.
In outerwear, the Delta is an ultralight, full-stretch, 100% windproof jacket (the Nyla in the ladies line). This truly engineered jacket features stretch-mesh lining, back venting, and angled vents to the side panels. The Truman is a lightweight stretch ¼ zip with a ribbed inner collar for interest and features 50+ UPF sun protection.
LADIES
With its ladies collection, PING Apparel enables golfers to integrate premium, elevated sportswear with her everyday wardrobe. The line balances performance, style and comfort with classic looks. New collar silhouettes play with tradition in a feminine and relaxed look. Attributes include sophisticated and simple color blocking, overlapped and crossover details, back detailing, and minimal abstraction prints using soft geometrics and subtle textures.
The SS18 color palette works as a modular system with compatible colors. Amplified Pinks, combining bold, exotic and strong pinks, can be merchandised back to white and/or citadel grey. The key color in the Focus story is cobalt blue, offering sophistication with a hint of sportswear influence. Monochromes is a collection of linking pieces that work well on their own or across the other two color stories.
Two new polos, the Sienna and the sleeveless Dee, feature the CoolMax fabric constructed of poly CoolMax, poly and elastane. A new peached poly fabric is featured in the Beau polo and a new, ¾ sleeve style called the Cora. In bottoms, PING Apparel added two colors to the popular Adele pull-on stretch pant, and the Livia skort includes Tekfit stretch waistband technology. Two new lightweight spring merino-wool sweaters highlight the layering options.
