ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2018) – Accomplished player and coach Rob Strano, an honorable mention U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Youth Instructor, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 24.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday and from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Strano, owner and director of instruction for the Strano Golf Academy at Kelly Plantation Golf Club in Destin, Fla., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including Champions Learning Center and School of Golf; Strano is making his third appearance on Morning Drive.
“It is always a fun time when I come on Morning Drive,” said Strano, a native of St. Louis, Mo., who played golf at the same Belleville, Ill., country club as 1968 Masters winner Bob Goalby, and Jay and Jerry Haas. “I have a great passion for coaching the game of golf, and I look forward to bringing that energy and sharing some of my favorite tips with the viewers at home.”
Strano competed professionally for 15 years across several U.S. tours-including the PGA, Web.com and NGA Hooters Tours-winning five times. He began his teaching career at Pine Needles Resort in Pinehurst, N.C., where he was a lead instructor with the golf schools. Since opening the Strano Golf Academy in 2003, he has helped more than 50 students go on and play collegiate golf.
In 2003, Strano developed a nationwide outreach program for deaf children, teaching them how to play golf in sign language. As the director of the United States Deaf Golf Camps, Rob travels the country conducting instruction clinics for the deaf at various PGA and LPGA Tour events.
