Two months gone and we are looking at a great year for Asian golf. The March issue of ASIAN GOLF features a young rising star from India – Shubhankar Sharma who is the current leader in the 2018 Race To Dubai European Tour ranking. Sharma is just 21 years old and a wonderful ambassador for the professional game in Asia.
While Sharma is setting a blazing pace, another youngster from Thailand has bubbled to the top of the amateur ranks in Asia. She is Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul, just fifteen years old and she created history when she became the first player to hoist the winner’s trophy at the inaugural Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Golf Championship.
A golf gold medallist at the last Southeast Asian Games, Thitikul earned an invitation to play in two major championships in 2018 – the RICOH Women’s British Open and the ANA Inspiration – as well as a place in the starting field of the prestigious LPGA’s Women’s World Championship in Singapore.
