STREAMSONG, FLORIDA (March 9, 2018) – In less than six months since opening, Streamsong® Black has been named the Best New Development of the Year in Golf Inc.’s 15th annual Development of the Year Competition. The course finished above other golf developments around the globe such as Great Northern, a Nicklaus design project in Denmark; Ha Long Bay, a Schmidt-Curley project in Vietnam; and the Royal Blue Golf Course at the Baha Mar resort in the Bahamas. With this new award, Streamsong Resort is now home to three award winning golf courses – Streamsong Red, Streamsong Blue and Streamsong Black.
The Golf Inc. Magazine list of new developments is compiled annually and is published in the March/April issue. The judges evaluate the nominees on the following criteria: how the final result achieves the vision of the developer and works with the business plan, how the final result achieves the vision of the architect and contractor and how the project is environmentally sensitive and sustainable from both an environmental and economic standpoint. Streamsong Black was recognized by Golf Inc. Magazine for the following qualities:
• “An outstanding example of an inland links-style course with firm and fast playing conditions built on an expansive sand-based property.”
• “One of the ways that Black differentiates itself from its older siblings is the terrain. It’s built on a more flowing landscape, with rolling fairways and numerous ridges dotting the site.”
The judges added “I applaud their vision for creating yet another memorable golf experience in a fairly remote location that can attract any type of event in the future. To have three top-tier courses in one location sounds pretty inviting, no matter where you live.”
