Scottsdale, Ariz. (March 20, 2018) – Brian Rashley has been named the new general manager of Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club, a Troon Golf-managed, semi-private facility in Ocean View, Delaware. Rashley, a member of the PGA of America with more than 15 years of experience in the golf and club industry, replaces Neil Maurer who is moving to Alpine Country Club, a Troon Privé-managed club in Highland, Utah, to become general manager.
Rashley comes to Bear Trap Dunes from Seaview Resort in Galloway, New Jersey where he served as the club’s general manager for the past three years. While at Seaview, Rashley oversaw the award-winning resort’s 36-hole golf and club facility and lead the operational charge of managing the LPGA ShopRite Classic held each year in May. Under his leadership, Seaview Resort was a top performer within Troon for associate satisfaction as well as guest and member satisfaction. Seaview was also recognized as a Top 25 “Friendliest Course in America” by Golfadvisor.com
Rashley earned his degree in Business Administration from Methodist University and has spent his professional career in Pennsylvania, Florida, and New Jersey. Brian began his career interning at Blue Bell Country Club in Pennsylvania, Marriott’s Falcon Fire and Grande Vista Resort in Florida. He joined Troon in 2008 as an assistant golf professional at Seaview Resort and is a graduate of Troon’s LEADer program.
“We are excited for Brian, his wife Samantha and their daughter Charlotte, as they make the move a few hours south to Bear Trap Dunes,” said Matt Hurley, senior vice president, operations, Troon. “Brian has a passion for the club business, and is a hands-on manager with strong team-building skills. We have no doubt that Bear Trap Dunes will continue to thrive under his leadership.”
Designed by Rick Jacobson, a former associate of Jack Nicklaus, Bear Trap Dunes offers one of the area’s most unique and memorable golf experiences on the East Coast. The 27-hole facility features three different nine-hole courses, named Grizzly, Kodiak and Black Bear. Winding Bent grass fairways are lined with native wetland grasses and natural sand dunes. Owned by Carl M. Freeman Golf, a division of Carl M. Freeman Companies, Bear Trap Dunes has been named a top “Golf Course You Can Play” by GOLF Magazine, a Top 5 “Best Courses You Can Play in Delaware” by GolfWeek and is a three-time AGM Platinum Award winner for golf shop merchandising.
