Popular golf app increases recruiting
for high school and college-age caddies to work this summer
Haymarket, VA (March 28, 2018,) – CaddieNow, the popular app bringing caddies back to the game of golf, announced today it is expanding service throughout the greater Philadelphia and Tri-State area.
CaddieNow is a shared-economy app, in the model of well-known ride-sharing platforms like Uber and Lyft. The user-friendly virtual service has gained popularity in the industry because it’s easy for golfers to book caddies, for caddies to find work, and for courses with or without existing caddie programs to offer caddie services at no additional costs.
“We’re excited about the growth and future of our brand,” said Dave Cavossa, CaddieNow Founder and CEO. “We are pleased clubs and courses of all types are reaching out and inviting us to be their partners in providing golfers a better experience.”
The Mid-Atlantic-based company began operating in Virginia and Maryland in 2015 and has grown steadily since. As part of its Philadelphia expansion, CaddieNow is signing agreements with partner courses from Harrisburg to the Poconos, South Jersey and Delaware – and looking to work with more – while also searching for potential caddies to staff its demand. The service is popular at both courses with and without existing caddie programs.
Dan Donohue, CaddieNow Director of Operations and the Regional Lead in the Tri-State Area, said, “CaddieNow has proven to be a win-win for golfers and golf courses everywhere from Florida to California. I am pleased to say Philadelphia was one of the first metro areas to get our service and we’ve been growing ever since.”
A total of 19 clubs in the Tri-State Area now welcome CaddieNow to their courses, and a handful more are in the process of joining that list. Four well-known and respected clubs officially just became the latest partners offering CaddieNow. They are: Blue Bell Country Club, Doylestown Country Club, LedgeRock Country Club and new The Shore Club.
Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay were the architects of the course at Blue Bell Country Club, which opened in 1994. At more than 100 years old, Doylestown Country Club is the oldest private club in Bucks County, having been established in 1916. LedgeRock Country Club in Mohnton is a premier, contemporary course designed by Rees Jones, esteemed for his role as the “Open Doctor.” The most recent addition is The Shore Club in Cape May Court House, N.J., which is one of the most celebrated, and significantly notable, golf courses in all of the East Coast.
As a former professional caddie who became a Caddie Master, Donohue has seen the changes in the industry and knows firsthand the advantages and benefits CaddieNow brings. “Philadelphia and this region have a rich history of traditional caddie programs, but we’ve saw how some clubs lost their programs and how caddies were disappearing. Between some of the legal staffing issues and kids today unwilling to sit around for five hours, the landscape has changed. That’s why the ease and efficiency of our service – for both golfers and course managers – helps overcome those challenges and is bringing caddies back.”
Donohue added, “CaddieNow makes it easy for courses to implement a new service at no cost, provides young people an entry point to golf, and makes caddies affordable and accessible to all golfers.”
Geoff Surrette, Executive Director of the Philadelphia PGA Section, “Since CaddieNow came into the market last year, we’ve enjoyed their support and seen their impact. They are helping small programs move into the modern-era of the game while also bringing efficiency to the bigger programs. They are enhancing the course experience and ushering caddying into the 21st century. Time’s are changing and CaddieNow is making life easier for clubs while also allowing kids to learn, which is bringing in a new audience.”
Another positive aspect of CaddieNow is its local, charitable support. The company makes a donation per loop to an area nonprofit. In the Philadelphia region, CaddieNow has chosen to contribute to the PGA Junior Tour.
Since it was founded in 2015, CaddieNow’s stated mission has been to bring caddies back to the game of golf and make them accessible to golfers of all skill levels at lower costs at any course. The company’s goal is to engage the youngest generation in golf by providing them exposure to the game and entry to multiple courses as caddies.
Donohue is looking for young caddies to join the CaddieNow workforce in the Tri-State Area. CaddieNow has made it easy for either youths or adults to become caddies. Candidates can sign up and register online at to http://www.CaddieNow.com. Each caddie goes through an orientation and certification.
Drawing from his experience as a caddie, Donohue said, “Caddying has so many positives. It provides immediate income and opens networking opportunities that can help teens and college students with their future careers. The lifetime impact can be immeasurable.”
To use the service, golfers simply download the free CaddieNow app, which is available for iPhone and Android devices, and register. After golfers enter the course, date and time they plan to play, they receive a confirmation notice from their looper, who will meet them at the course. Fees range from $30 – $80, plus tip, depending on the golfer’s desired level of caddy experience. CaddieNow continues to offer four levels of caddie service: JR LOOPER, LOOPER, FORE-LOOPER and PRO-LOOPER. The company is currently operating on more than 100 courses.
